– È questo lo Zen, dimenticare? Io credevo fosse semplicemente essere umani, essere se stessi.
– Essere me stesso?! Cosa sono allora, un uomo che ha perso la propria compagna di vita, che non riesce ad accettare neanche per un solo istante la sua morte, un uomo che chiede ogni notte al mare di portargli almeno la sua voce? È questo quello che sono? Tu non chiameresti folle, un uomo del genere?!
– Io lo chiamerei un uomo, niente di più.
– E non voglio più esserlo, non voglio più essere nulla,
– Vieni ogni notte qui ma non hai mai notato la vera voce del mare? Un’onda viene, un’onda va. Proprio come il tuo respiro. Un’onda porta la mia voce e un attimo dopo se la riprende. Ti prego, non dimenticarmi. Continua a fare quello che hai sempre fatto, continua ad amarmi, quando vengo e quando vado.
